Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account details such as your name, email address, profile image, and authentication identifiers.
• Workspace membership, document permissions, comments, mentions, activity, and settings.
• Documents, source files, uploaded assets, revisions, and published pages you create.
• Agent connection metadata, tool activity, and OAuth scopes. We do not ask you to paste provider passwords or API keys into documents.
• Billing status and subscription identifiers. Payment card details are handled by Dodo Payments and are not stored by Modern Docs.
• Product usage such as page visits, clicks, device and browser details, performance measurements, errors, feature usage, survey responses, and privacy-masked session recordings.
• Basic technical data needed for security, reliability, and troubleshooting.

2. How we use information

We use information to provide document editing, collaboration, agent tools, sharing, publishing, billing, support, security, abuse prevention, and service improvements. We do not sell personal information.

3. Collaboration and public content

People with access to a document can see the content, comments, attribution, and activity allowed by their role. Viewer links and published pages can expose content outside your workspace. Public content may be indexed or copied by others.

4. Service providers

We use service providers for hosting, authentication, payments, email, database, private asset storage, and product analytics. They process data for Modern Docs under their own security and privacy obligations. Current providers may include Vercel, Clerk, Dodo Payments, Resend, PostHog, and our database and storage vendors.

5. Cookies, analytics, and session recordings

Modern Docs uses cookies and local storage for sign-in, security, workspace state, theme preferences, analytics, and essential product behavior. PostHog helps us understand product use, reliability, and performance. Session recordings can include visible page content, document and comment text, images, styles, non-password input values, interactions, and console logs. Passwords and explicitly masked elements stay hidden. We remove query strings, page fragments, private link tokens, network headers, and network bodies. We do not use this data for advertising.

6. Retention

We keep information while your account or workspace is active and as needed for the service, security, billing, legal obligations, and backups. Deleted documents may remain recoverable for a limited period before removal. Published or shared copies held by other people are outside our control.

7. Security

We use access controls, private storage, encryption in transit, scoped agent permissions, and operational safeguards. No system is completely secure, so protect your account and report suspected misuse promptly.

8. Your choices

You can update account details through the authentication provider, change notification settings, revoke links and agent connections, manage collaborators, archive or delete documents, and cancel paid plans. You may request access, correction, export, or deletion where required by law.

9. International processing

Modern Docs and its service providers may process data in countries outside your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

10. Children

Modern Docs is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children who cannot legally use the service.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product, providers, or law changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice for material changes.
